I actually was having a lot of physical health problems. I kept breaking out into shingles and then I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. What happened was I would get a cavity and then we would fill it or I would need a root canal and it was just one after the other.
When I first met Crystal she had a lot of problems. Almost every single tooth had a big cavity or some problem in it. I was almost like a fireman putting out fires here and there, and we were trying to fix this section of teeth and then fix the next section of teeth. After we spent a year or two trying to fix her teeth, we had an honest conversation that maybe this is not the right direction.
Financially, It was just getting very expensive. It was painful and it’s embarrassing. You don’t want people to see your mouth like this, you know, you definitely don’t want to smile and have people see. Dr. Tabor kept telling me, this is not your fault. Since I’m pretty stubborn, I didn’t really believe that at first but he said, this is only going to continue to happen and I think that the best thing we could do is to look into the implants.
So what we were able to do with Crystal is we removed her teeth and placed dental implants in the place of her teeth, then fixed teeth on those implants, and all in one appointment in Nashville, Tennessee.
When they handed me the mirror to see my final implants, I was so happy! It’s really emotional to know that I would never have to have another painful procedure. I mean just the way it looks, the way it makes me feel, it’s life-changing, it really is. It’s amazing!
The most amazing thing about Crystal’s appointment is she came in the next day and I just knew that she was going to be sore, but she was laughing and she was celebrating how awesome her teeth were. Excited that she finally has teeth that would not continue to give her so many problems as she had in the past.
I feel beautiful, I really do. I think it changes the way that you interact with people because when you’re embarrassed you don’t want to show parts of your mouth, you’re kind of hiding. To be able to just smile and not think about it. I think it definitely affects your self-esteem. It really does, and I could not have done this without them. I mean they are family now, they were there literally every step of the way, they would even hold my hand. The girls that work here are just amazing. He [Dr. Tabor] is amazing. I could not have done this procedure without Dr. Tabor, no way. I mean, he’s just an amazing guy!
